September 30. Not July 30.

It was 93 degrees here in sunny Southern California today.  I wore (from the bottom, up) Sketchers, jeans and a sweater...a turtleneck sweater with flouncy sleeves.

"Leanne," you say, "why did you think it would be a good idea to wear any form of sweater on a day like today?"

"You," I answer, "obviously you don't understand that when it's the day before October, the weather should allow for a bundling up of sorts."

So, just to make sure that I am not completely crazy, I decided to do a Google search for "Fall Clothes".  Among many other things that support my nutty ideas, I found an article stating that the following are important parts of "The Basic Elements of a Fall Wardrobe":

Fabrics:  corduroy, faux fur, suede, cable knit, quilted fabrics and wool
Pieces:   turtlenecks, long cardigan sweaters, jeans, pants, scarves/mittens, long skirts, long- sleeved button down shirts, boots, hoodies, etc.

Next Tuesday is supposed to be 73.  I guess I'll have to break out my wooly gloves and go buy me a pair of Uggs.

Come on, California.  Could you at least get it below 70 for October?  That would be great.

The individual responsible for this list obviously does not reside in Southern California.

I fully support your sweater decision. After all, it did rain yesterday so how were you to know what to expect?

Liana, I wish I could say I saw rain, but I didn't. However I do appreciate the support.
Traci, yes please. I totally want to come up there. I just need the dates and the airfare. :o)

so this kid i am close-ish with at work, he's a transplant to the east coast from so cal, and he's very very very southern califorian, and i love him to bits, but the kid is rooting for the weather to turn cold here. as someone with a broken internal thermometer who is ice-cold no matter the time of year or the weather outside, i wish he'd keep his trap shut. it's been pleasantly 70ish degrees here, with that slight nip of fall in the air, and i really don't want it to come any quicker than necessary.

in other news, i may be out that way next summer-ish for a week. i don't know how far you are from LA and where the aforementioned worker boy's home base is, but if i come out there, we'll have to make an effort to get together. i mean, it's only been what, six years? :)`

Absolutely! Depending on traffic, I could be anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 hours away from most points in LA.

As for your friend, honey, you'd be rooting for cold if you lived in SoCal too. Imagine not being able to wear a sweater EVER to cover any of those unsightly bulges or just to be comfy cozy...or to layer just for the cute factor. The closest you'd get to layering here is a tank top underneath another slightly-wider-strapped tank top. Maybe a t-shirt.

It's rough. I mean, they sell Uggs here...and for some reason, people buy them. But for the life of me, I can't understand why. It's unfortunate, because I'd really like to be able to justify said purchase, but I just can't at this juncture in my life.

Sadly it's been about 75 or 80 here too. It is supposed to get down to 64 on Sunday with rain. I hope it stays that cool for awhile.
